Red Cabin Adventure

We spent a week in Mt Morris i[n the batty] red cottage.

The weather was just about perfect -- not too hot, not too humid.  We spent most days in and around the lake.

We went to the Mill for coffee (and ice cream)!  We also went out for Friday fish, where Sully discovered his love for deep fried perch.  And of course, it wouldn't be complete without a trip to Joe's Fox Hut.  My parents met us there too!  And T got a shirt.  We followed it up with some turtle sundaes at Gillies!

Of course there was a big fireworks show on Thursday to celebrate the 4th.  Super!

Jordy didn't stop swimming for 7 days straight.

We headed up to my parent's place on Friday.  More lake time and fun with the family!  Oh, and 4 wheeler rides!!

Girls day with Harper

Harper and I spent a Friday together.

Her friend joined us at Simply Jane, where we all painted masterpieces.

And we goofed around a little too....

After a pizza party lunch and some Scooby Doo watching, we headed to the off leash dog park with Jordy.

Before we knew it the day was over.  So much fun.

stuck at O'Hare

Storms rolled through Chicago, so I was stuck for 6 hours at ORD.

Luckily they were having fun back in MN without me.

Father's Day weekend

Saturday we hosted a BBQ for a dozen or so of our friends + kids (and one extra dog).  The party started with a downpour, but turned sunny after that.  The kids played, rode bikes, played ping pong.  The adults played ping pong too.  We caught up, talked about summer finally getting started, and ate really good BBQ food.

Overall, it was a good BBQ and great to see so many of our friends as the summer got rolling.  I only took two photos.  ...as I was running around doing other things ...mainly enjoying the time with such great friends.

Sunday the kids and I took T to brunch at The Lowbrow.  The kids enjoyed the etcha-sketches.  And we all enjoyed our pancakes (except T, who ordered jalapeno hash).

Summer had finally arrived and brought with it hot weather.  So we all grabbed our swimsuits and spent some time cooling down at the local pool.

Later that day, T and I rode our bikes to the falls.  We capped off the day (or at least T did) with a root beer float + bacon fat gingersnap.  Yum!

Cabin weekend

Since I missed my parents over Memorial Day weekend, we decided to head to their place for a weekend.  We arrived in time to grab perch at Billy Timbers in Summit Lake.

Jordy discovered Jackson's old tennis ball ...and the pines.

On Saturday we trekked up to Rhinelander and golfed at Northwoods.  The day got nicer as it progressed.  I don't remember is my golf game did too.

Rounding out the weekend were four wheeler rides and a campfire.  Probably a game or two of scratch!

business as usual

Harper and I went to an outdoor yoga class.  She was unusually excited about going.  ...ok, maybe I was too.

T's work had a movie night at a local theater.  It was the first movie Sully has been to in a theater.  He great until the popcorn ran out.  Then he wanted to go home.  Ha ha.  Harper was happy since two of her buddies joined her.  They ate lots of popcorn and dots!

Our garden started producing in early June -- radishes and spinach.  I ate several salads that I probably wouldn't have eaten otherwise.  And I made up a pesto recipe to use up some spinach.

The school year ended -- first grade and pre-school are over.

because he is Jordy, part 2

He loves that orange toy so much.

because he is Jordy....

I don't even know what to say here.  He was laying like that ON PURPOSE.

Bike to school day

T and H rode bike to school one day.  She was so happy.

Memorial Day weekend in WI

I spent the holiday weekend battling a cold, so the details are a bit sketchy.

We were in Mt. Morris.  I know we went out for perch fry on Friday night.  Then I went to bed early.

Either Saturday or Sunday we met up with some friends and golfed at The Bull.  I think I golfed ok.  Not great, just ok.  Afterward we got pizza in Plymouth.  Then I went to bed early.  (do you see a pattern here?)

It was cold, so we had a couple campfires.  The lake was scenic.  I slept alot.

Oh, and we went on a boat ride.  I stayed awake, but baby Abrahm didn't.

Opryland!

The trip stumbled a bit at the start -- wrong hotel, wishing I had rented a car, etc.  But in the end, the Opryland hotel was a delightful place for a work conference.  I enjoyed my time in Nashville and I had a great conference experience.

In my quest for social media fame and fortune, I was thrilled that my tweet made the "big board" at the conference.  Woo hoo!

first round of golf

T and I headed up to The Ponds on a sunny Sunday afternoon to play a round of golf.  The round started out great.  Then when we turned to tee 10, this loomed.

We finished hole 10 and turned to head for the clubhouse just as it started to rain.  The downpour hit as we entered the clubhouse.

Needless to say, we were rained out.  We will have to go back another day to finish the round :)

just because

Twins game #2

On the hottest day of the year so far (90 degrees!), T and I went to see another Twins game (another loss).  Oh, and it was fleece blanket night.  Ironic.

Race day.....

Way back in the dark of winter, three gals decided on a half marathon.  Heather, Nicole and I signed up for the Maple Grove half marathon on the day before Mother's day.  I was training somewhat reliably, so I thought I could run that far.  Nicole and Heather not so much.  So after bravely surviving a branch to the eye while putting up our back fence, we all agreed to run a shorter distance.  It was still fun to get to run with my gal pals.  Afterwards we got a great breakfast together too!

Maybe next year we will get a half in!

Mom's day.

H made me a sweet painting at school since she says "you are like a Mom most of the time".  Pretty sweet.

kids bdays part 3

Just when you thought the birthday fun was over, there was one more party to attend.
